How to import a new Illustrator(Ai) layer in After Effects(Ae) once you done animation?

Hello Internet,

So, I was doing my animation project in After Effects. I have imported an Adobe Illustrator(.ai) file for animation. After creating animation I realize that I want to apply animation to a leaf design only(Image 02). But unfortunately, I did not separate that leaf design from the group at the beginning time, and that layer contains a bunch of other designs as well. Then how do I solve this!

Here is the solution.

You can create a new Illustrator file. Put that leaf design on the new file and import that .ai file into after effects. But now you have to deal with two illustrator files. some times it helped a lot and sometimes not because you have to remember which design I put in which file. So I think this is not a proper solution.

You can duplicate that layer in after effects and do apply masking on a particular part and separate it from the main layer. But in this case, you have to do proper masking. Still, this is not a proper solution.

Here I found one solution or you can say trick which allows you to update into that same Illustrator(.ai)  file. In this trick neither need to create a new ai file nor no need to do masking. Just you need to follow some steps. Please refer to this video.
